Bonita Opens CIF D-2 Playoffs w/a 9-1 Victory Over Sierra Canyon; All 9 BHS Starters had at Least One Hit

Softball:

Bonita looked every bit the No. 1 seed in Division 2, as the Bearcats cruised to a 9-1 victory over their visitors from Sierra Canyon.

BHS out-hit SCHS, 15-5, including a 3-0 advantage in extra-base hits.

Sara Yeats went 2 1/3 innings, and she was charged with one run on four hits.

Yeats didn’t issue a walk and registered two strikeouts.

Serenity Reyes would go 4 2/3 scoreless innings, and she allowed one hit, walked one and struck out five batters.

Emma Rosales went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Soraya Chavez singled and scored.

Kaylee Ton got the loss after surrendering five runs (four runs) on nine hits over four innings.

Ton walked three and struck out three BHS batters.

The Bearcats got to Brianna Hagiu for four runs (three earned) on six hits, a walk and a hit batter over 1 1/3 innings.

All nine Bonita batters had at least one hit on Thursday.

Yeats walked and hit a two-run HR.

Leah Reynolds drew three walks, singled and scored a pair of runs.

Madi Arzate went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Koa Puppe singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.

Adrianna Mangini singled twice, scored and drove in a run,.

Laney Sweeney went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Kelli Okayama was hit by pitch, singled and scored.

Reyes went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Kiana Crawford singled twice, scored and drove in one.

Up next: The Bearcats travel to Ganesha on Saturday at 3:15.

The Lady Giants (18-3) shut out their visitors from Torrance, 7-0, on Thursday.
