Baseball:
Upland won its first CIF-SS postseason game in 14 years on Thursday.
The Highlanders trailed the visitors from Riverside Poly, 2-0, in the first round of the D-4 playoffs.
However, UHS scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and went on to claim a 7-4 victory over the Bears.
Andrew Weber went six innings to earn the win, and he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Weber issued one walk and registered seven strikeouts.
Fifty-nine of his 90 pitches were strikes.
Issac Carlos got the final three outs and surrendered a pair of runs on two hits and a walk.
Gavin Malmberg singled and hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh.
Keaton Pilliter walked, singled, scored twice and hit a solo home run.
Michael Neri went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Matt Henry walked and singled.
Maddox Hackworth singled and Jacob Cevallos scored.
Danny Bedford got the loss after surrendering five runs on right hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Bedford walked two and struck out four UHS batters.
Darien Maung went 2-for-3 with a walk, run, and his three-run double in the fourth extended the Upland lead to 6-2.
Carson Kinnick drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Tommy Lopez drove in a run on a sac fly.
Elliot Cresap went 2-for-3.
Jaedan Quemada drew a bases loaded walk and scored.
Ryan May went 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Jaydin Castro singled and scored.
Angelo Mantilla went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.
