Baseball:
South Hills did what South Hills does in Tuesday’s CIF-SS Division 2 opener.
The Huskies got outstanding pitching and just enough offense to secure a 2-0 victory over their visitors from San Clemente.
Christian Santoyo went 4 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed five runs to earn the win.
Santoyo walked one and fanned one SCHS batter.
Nicholas Carrillo provided two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Carrillo issued two walks and registered one strikeout.
Gabriel Guerrero was called on to get the final out while the Tritons had the tying runs on base.
Guerrero induced a ground out to secure the win.
Joaquim Baumgardner and Dax Conrad walked and singled.
Cassius Sisson, Kai Cesare and Barrett Wood had one hit apiece to account for the rest of the SCHS offense.
Easton Muraira got the loss after surrendering two runs (one earned) on two hits and a pair of hit batters over 4 1/3 innings.
Muraira walked four and fanned a pair of SHHS batters.
Colin Dobbs provided 1 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Dobbs walked one and struck out one batter.
Richie Soto drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning.
Diego Villarreal was hit by pitch and singled twice in as many official at-bats.
His fifth innings single coupled with a San Clemente error allowed the second run to score.
Ayden Vieth walked and doubled.
Gabriel Guerrero was hit by pitch, walked and scored both South Hills runs.
Victor Merlos drew a pair of walks.
Carson Baker had a pair of successful sac bunts, including one that moved up a base and eventually scored.

The Giants (22-3-1) secured a 2-1 victory at Linfield Christian in their first-round contest.
