Braydon Blackmore & Kaleb Ellison Homer & Drive in Three Runs Apiece in Monrovia’s 10-6 CIF-SS D-4 Victory at Castaic

Baseball:

Monrovia pounded out a 10-6 victory at Castaic in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs.

And the Wildcats turned five Coyotes errors into six unearned runs.

MHS out-hit CHS, 12-6.

Andrew Bond got the loss after surrendering 10 runs (four earned) on 11 hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Bond issued two walks and registered eight strikeouts.

Braydon Blackmore went 3-for-5, and that included an RBI single and a two-run home run in the fifth to extend the MHS lead to 10-3.

Troy Grise walked, singled, scored twice, stole a base and doubled in a run.

Sutton Powers went 2-for-5 with two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Kaleb Ellison’s three-run homer in the top of the fourth gave Monrovia a 7-3 lead.

Evan Huelster singled and scored.

Lucas Martinez singled and scored a pair of runs.

Jayden Castaneda drew a pair of walks and was hit by pitch.

Braedon Petteruto-Shine singled and scored.

Greyson Lorenzini had one single.

Lorenzini also got the win after going five innings and being charged with six runs on six hits.

Lorenzini walked four and fanned four Castaic batters.

Sutton Powers provided two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.

Powers didn’t issue a walk and struck out one CHS batter.

Nathan Dudra walked, doubled and drove in three runs.

Aiden Arroyo walked, singled and scored.

Orion Gonzalez singled and scored.

Jakob Kerr doubled in a run and scored.

Oliver Price went 2-for-4 with a double, run and one RBI.

Matthew Gonzalez and Brandon Grzelkowska walked and scored one run apiece.

Up next: The Wildcats host Moorpark on Tuesday at 3:15.

The Musketeers (20-9) shut out their visitors from La Serna, 9-0, in their first-round game.
