Baseball:
Since dropping game two and three of a three-game Hacienda League series to Alta Loma, the South Hills baseball program has consecutive wins over El Rancho (7-0), La Quinta (2-1) and Crescenta Valley (4-3).
The Huskies scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on Monday, and the Falcons answered back late with three in the top of the seventh inning.
SHHS got out of a jam, and scored once in the bottom of the seventh to secure a 4-3 victory over CV.
Hudson Hempel went six-plus innings and he was charged with three runs on two hits.
Hempel issued two walks and registered four strikeouts.
Marc Morales and Aiden Mirabal walked one batter apiece and were pulled.
Gabriel Guerrero was the fourth South Hills pitcher in the seventh and he was able to induce a fielder’s choice ground out, and the Huskies’ senior got a pair of Falcons on strikes looking to end the threat.
Chase DeLeon and Brock Robeson drew bases loaded walks in the seventh.
Finn Anthony’s RBI ground out tied the game at 3-3.
Gunnar Herman walked, singled twice and scored.
Cole Richards doubled and scored.
Evan Campbell went four innings and he surrendered three runs on four hits and a pair of hit batters.
Campbell walked three and struck out four SHHS batters.
Landon Mercado provided one scoreless and hitless inning in relief.
Mercado walked two and fanned one batter.
Cole Richards was stuck with the loss after allowing one run on one hit and four walks over 1 2/3 innings.
Richards got one South Hills batter on strikes.
Richie Soto walked, singled in a pair of runs in the first inning and scored.
Diego Villarreal went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI single in the first inning to give SHHS a 1-0 lead.
Carson Baker singled and scored.
Gabriel Guerrero was hit by pitch twice, walked, and his two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh drove in the game-winning run.

The Bulldogs (22-2) have won nine games in a row, and they defeated SHHS, 15-4, back on March 10th at AHS.
