Baseball:
After getting swept in their first three-game Baseline League series to Chino Hills, the Upland baseball program has won three consecutive series.
The Highlanders defeated Rancho Cucamonga, Damien and Los Osos by identical 2-1 series victories.
And that included Friday’s 5-3 victory over their visitors from LOHS.
Issac Carlos went 5 1/3 innings, and he was charged with two runs on two hits.
Carlos didn’t issue a walk and registered eight strikeouts.
Ezekiel Cortez got the final five outs, and he allowed one run on one hit, a walk and a hit batter.
Cortez struck out a pair of Grizzlies.
Wyatt Mohler and Dominic Rodriguez accounted for all of Los Osos’ offense.
Rodriguez singled, scored twice and hit a solo home run.
Mohler hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.
Kyle Humphrey was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on one hit and seven walks over 4 1/3 innings.
Humphrey struck out three UHS batters.
Darien Maung had a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning, and a three-run double in the fifth.
Ryan May issued a pair of walks and scored.
Andrew Armendarez walked and scored a pair of runs.
Carson Kinnick drew two walks and scored two runs.
Jaedan Quemada singled in Friday’s win.
