Sarmiento, Chuang & Zandbergen Combine on Three-Hit Shutout & Struck Out 11 in Ayala’s 8-0 Victory at Claremont

Baseball:

Claremont picked a bad time to go on a slide.

After Wednesday’s 8-0 home loss to Ayala, the Wolfpack have lost three consecutive Palomares League games and four of their last five.

Easton Sarmiento, Nolan Chuang and Jake Zandbergen combined on a three-hit shutout.

Sarmiento went four innings, allowing one hit, walking three and striking out eight CHS batters.

Chuang provided two scoreless innings in relief and surrendered one base hit.

Zandbergen got all three of his outs in the seventh via strikeout.

Nico Vasquez had two hits for Claremont and Reed Miller had the other.

Brady Houlton got the loss after surrendering two runs (one earned) on six hits over five innings.

Houlton issued four walks and registered four strikeouts.

Gil Perez as charged with two runs on three hits over one innings.

Ayala got to Patrick Delgado for four runs on six hits in the top of the seventh.

Jonah Boyd tripled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Aiden Granados went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Jaden Valenzuela singled twice and scored.

Eric Hernandez singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Elijah Duarte walked, doubled and scored.

Ivan Ruddell went 2-for-4 with a double, run and one RBI.

Easton Sarmiento walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.

Dylan Wood went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.

Caleb Trugman singled three times.

Up next: CHS travels to AHS on Friday at 3:30.
