Baseball:
After opening Baseline League play with a three-game sweep over Upland, the Huskies have lost five in a row and six of their last seven games.
And that included Monday’s 6-3 loss to their visitors from Damien.
Ryan Wentworth went five innings, and he was charged with three unearned runs on three hits.
Wentworth walked four and struck out four CHHS batters.
Isaiah Seawright provided two scoreless innings in relief and scattered four hits.
Seawright struck out one.
Brooks Buoncristiani went 2-for-2 with a walk, run and an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Ryan Dabuet singled and scored.
Branden Kim walked and singled.
Hudson Hughes doubled, while Brody Buoncristiani and Jayden Kim had one single apiece.
Rhett Billingsley scored once for the Huskies.
Brody Buoncristiani got stuck with the loss after surrendering three runs on five hits and a pair of hit batters over four innings.
He issued three walks and registered four strikeouts.
Damien got to Nick Gonzalez for three runs (one earned) on three hits over three innings.
Gonzalez walked one and struck out a pair of DHS batters.
Elius Kelly walked, had an RBI ground out in the top of the first inning and a two-run double in the third to give Damien a 3-0 lead.
Michael Mansour walked, singled, doubled and scored.
Grant Corder was hit by pitch, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Brady Bickham singled and doubled.
Jackson Annigain went 2-for-3 with a double.
Aiden East and Gino Tarzia drove in one run apiece via sac fly.
Maxwell Ewers scored once in the win.
Up next: The Huskies travel to Damien on Wednesday at 3:30.
