Bishop Amat Secures Fourth Straight Del Rey League Title After Erasing 5-0 Deficit & Defeating La Salle, 9-8, in Nine Innings

Bishop Amat earned a fourth consecutive Del Rey League championship the old fashioned way.

They earned it.

After incurring an 11-1 ass kicking at the hands of La Salle back on March 10th, Amat claimed victories of 4-2 and 9-8 in nine innings on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

They overcame deficits of 5-0 and 8-5 on Friday.

The game featured 17 total runs, 17 hits, seven errors, 10 hit batters and five pitchers.

And what a painful way to lose for the boys from Pasadena.

With two outs and the bases loaded, Omar Arretche was hit by pitch to force in the game-winning run.

Izaac Muniz went 2 1/3 innings, and he was charged with five runs (two earned) on five hits and two hit batters.

Muniz issued two walks and registered a pair of strikeouts.

Omar Arretche provided 6 2/3 innings of relief, and he allowed three runs on two hits and three hit batters.

Arretche walked three and struck out one La Salle batter.

Chris Cardenas walked, was hit by pitch, doubled and scored two runs.

Andrew Klein was hit by pitch, walked and scored twice.

Drew Ward went 3-for-4, was hit by pitch, scored and drove in one.

Daniel Ruiz walked, was hit by pitch, singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs, including one on a bases-loaded walk.

Isaiah Romero went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.

Travis Ochoa singled and scored.

Miguel Romero drove in a run on a sac fly.

Jesse Rios had an RBI ground out and scored.

Frane Flores had one single.

Andrew Luna went 3 1/3 innings, and he was charged with a pair of unearned runs on two hits and three hit batters.

Luna walked two and fanned five.

David Lopez provided 1 2/3 innings in relief, and he allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits and a hit batter.

Lopez issued one walk and registered two strikeouts.

David Eriksson was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs on five hits and the hit batter.

Eriksson walked two and fanned one Amat batter.

Arretche went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and scored the game winning run.

Aiden Medina was hit by pitch, singled and scored.

Joaquin Ortiz walked, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Ray Castro walked, singled three times and scored.

Antonio Becerra drew a pair of walks, was hit by pitch, scored and had one RBI.

Santiago Ramirez walked, was hit by pitch twice, had an RBI fielder’s choice and scored.

Roman Spencer went 1-for-3, was hit by pitch, scored three runs and drove in one.

Ryan Salcedo was hit by pitch, singled, had an RBI ground out and scored.

Up next: La Salle travels to St. Paul on Tuesday at 3:30.
