College Baseball:
Citrus is closing out the 2026 regular season in top form.
The Owls just swept their second consecutive opponent, and they’ve won eight games in a row.
Citrus swept LA Valley by scores of 17-8, 6-2 and 20-2 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
Garrett Patterson had his longest and best outing as an Owl.
Patterson had a no-hitter into the fifth and he tossed six shutout innings.
The former Bonita athlete allowed a pair of singles, didn’t issue a walk and registered five strikeouts.
Forty-seven of his 74 pitches were strikes.
Kaito Takahashi singled in a run.
Vince Venia had an RBI ground out.
Christopher DeLaHoya walked, singled and scored.
Jaedyn Rodezno singled and scored.
Brandon Hoffman got the loss after surrendering seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and three hit batters.
Hoffman didn’t issue a walk and fanned five Owls.
Derek Almenda went 4-for-6 with two doubled, three runs and four RBIs.
Dustin Yela singled twice, homered, drove in three and scored two runs.
Jordan Daniels is arguably the most popular player on the Owls and yet he was hit three times.
Daniels also singled and scored.
Julian Hines went 3-for-5 with a walk, three runs and one RBI.
Lance Armijo got his chance and made the most of it.
Armijo went 4-for-5 with four runs and five RBIs.
Dominic Torrez walked, singled, doubled, scored three runs and drove in one.
Joe Gilkeson and Matt Kaneshiro singled in a run and scored one run apiece.
Koyo Taniguchi doubled in a run.
Cam Casado doubled.
Azael Hernandez had an RBI ground out.
Nick Velazquez walked and scored.
Isaac Nava scored once in Saturday’s win.
Up next: The Owls travel to West LA on Tuesday for the first of a three-game WSC series.
