College Baseball:

Mt. SAC blew a late lead on Thursday in a 5-4 loss at Long Beach.

The setback meant that even with a win on Saturday, the Mounties can’t win an SCC championship without some help next week from Pasadena City College.

Mt. SAC trails first-place El Camino by one game, and the Mounties have concluded the SCC portion of their schedule.

That gets us to game three of their series with Long Beach.

The Vikings got as close as 8-9 in the top of the fourth.

But Mt. SAC would score 13 of the game’s final 14 runs and cruise to a 20-9 victory.

Seth Sumner was credited with the win after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing an unearned run on four hits.

Sumner didn’t allow a walk and struck out two.

Myles Fredrick went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Enrique Lopez drew a pair of walks, scored and had one RBI.

Garret Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, run and three RBIs.

Carson Slager had an RBI single.

Aaron Mingo doubled in a run and scored.

Dylan Mayorga singled, doubled and scored.

Cross Stephens went 2-for-3 with a double, run and one RBI.

Anthony Buenaseda got the loss after allowing five runs on two hits and six walks over two innings.

Buenaseda struck out a pair of Mt. SAC batters.

Brock Foulds went 3-for-5 with a walk, two doubles, three runs and a pair of RBIs.

Jackson Giacone walked, singled, doubled, drove in two and scored three times.

Ryan Castro scored, had a two-run single, an RBI ground out and he was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

Andrew Alva went 3-for-6 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Frankie Brazil drew four walks and scored.

Chip Mertz went 2-for-5 with a walk, run and two RBIs.

Nick Mejia drew three walks, singled in a run and scored three times.

Brady Stull drew a bases loaded walk.

Luca Lombardi and Frolian Serna walked and scored one run apiece.

Tyler Primanto went 2-for-4 with two walks, a run and four RBIs.

Hudson Karczynski drew a pair of walks and scored.

Terrell Jackson scored once in the win.

Isaac Fanoga drove in a run on a sac fly.
