Baseball:

San Dimas secured its first Hacienda League series of the 2026 season.

The Saints dropped a pair three-game league series to South Hills and Alta Loma, respectively.

The Huskies and Lions won two of their three league games over San Dimas.

On Thursday, SDHS earned the series victory of Los Altos, 2-1.

They trailed 1-0 until the seventh, as San Dimas scored two runs to claim a 2-0 walk-off victory.

Jacob Vargas got the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Vargas issued three walks and registered five strikeouts.

It was probably frustrating enough for Vargas to lose that late in Thursday’s game, but it had to be even more painful in the manner of which they fell.

Aaden Escarcega led of the bottom of the seventh with a walk.

After retiring the next two batters, Escarcega stole second and third base.

Louis Farias drew a walk to give SDHS first-and-third with two outs.

Escarcega would score on a wild pitch to pull the Saints to tie the game at 1-1.

Cole Lipp came on to pinch run for Farias.

Sho Yang hit a ground ball to second and an error allowed Lipp to score the game winning run.

Luc Redfox had a pinch-hit double in the seventh and Calcanas singled to account for SDHS’ two hits on Thursday.

Dean Brosterhous went two scoreless innings, and allowing two hits and a walk.

Los Altos scored one run on two hits and three walks off Andrew DesMarets in one inning of work.

Calcanas earned the win by going four scoreless and surrendering just one hit.

Calcanas didn’t issue a walk and registered four strikeouts.

Nathan Berrera walked, singled twice and scored.

Joel Venegas’ two-out RBI double in the top of the third gave LAHS a 1-0 lead.

Either Diaz and Tommy Lozano had one single apiece in the loss.

Up next: According to their MaxPreps page, the Saints don’t play for nine days.
