Munoz & Mirabal Combine on 3-Hit Shutout in SHHS’ 3-0 Victory Over Colony; Soto Went 3-for-3 w/an RBI

Baseball:

South Hills wrapped up a three-game Hacienda League sweep of Colony.

The Huskies secured wins of 5-4, 17-0 and 3-0 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

Nicolas Munoz and Aiden Mirabal combined on a three-hit shutout.

Munoz got the win after four scoreless innings and allowing a pair of hits.

He walked one and fanned two.

Mirabal provided three scoreless and surrendered just one hit.

Mirabal issued a pair of walks and registered two strikeouts.

Gunner Montez, Antonio Huacuja and Aidan Castro had one single apiece to account for the Colony offense.

Mike Huicochea got the loss after surrendering three runs on eight hits over his six innings.

Huicochea walked three and struck out a trio of Huskies.

South Hills did all their damage in the bottom of the first inning.

With one out, Gabriel Guerrero and Carson Baker singled, followed by Paxton Czubek getting hit by pitch to load the bases.

Richie Soto singled in a run, Victor Merlos drew a bases loaded walk and Hudson Hempel had an RBI ground out.

Soto went 3-for-3 with the RBI.

Baker singled, doubled and scored.

Czubek walked, was hit by pitch and scored.

Guerrero went 2-for-3.

Wesley Manning doubled.

SHHS has won 20 of their last 21 league games.

Up next: The Huskies will host Alta Loma for the first of a three-game Hacienda League series on Monday to determine the league championship.
