Baseball:
Damien put away Damien in the first inning on Saturday at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Spartans scored eight runs in the bottom of the first, and they went on to secure an 11-1 victory and a three-game Baseline League sweep of the Cougars.
DHS out-hit RCHS, 10-2, including a 3-1 advantage in extra-base hits.
Layne Hansen went four innings and allowed one run on two hits.
Hansen walked five and fanned five Rancho Cucamonga batters.
Isaiah Seawright (2) and Andrew Martin (1) combined to provide three scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Seawright and Martin registered two strikeouts apiece.
Ethan Diaz had an RBI double in the top of the third inning to get the Cougars on the scoreboard.
Rowan Suchanek walked and scored.
Braeden Christian singled to account for the rest of the RCHS offense.
Mason Sanchez was rocked for eight runs (seven earned) on four hits, two hit batters and a walk in just 1/3 of an inning.
In the eight-run first inning, Damien sent 13 batters to the plate.
They totaled six hits, three hit batters and a pair of walks.
Maxwell Ewers went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Grant Corder drew a pair of walks, was hit by pitch, singled and scored two runs.
Ryan Gonzalez had an RBI single, an RBI double and scored.
Michael Mansour had an RBI double and scored.
Elius Kelly singled, scored twice and drew a bases loaded walk.
Gino Tarzia walked, singled in a run and scored.
Nico Vazquez drew a pair of walks and scored.
Jackson Annigain had an RBI single and scored.
