Baseball:
After a brutal start, West Covina has won three games in a row and five of their last six.
The Bulldogs edged their visitors from Tahquitz, 6-5, after scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Levi Ruiz went 5 2/3 innings and he was charged with five runs (two earned) on five hits.
Ruiz walked three and struck out two THS batters.
Joaquin Diaz earned the win after going 1 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings and striking out one.
Jayden Bartlett went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Darren Inda walked, singled and scored.
Jesse Martinez and Ethan Padilla singled and scored one run apiece.
Matthew Regla went 1-for-2, was hit by pitch, walked and had one RBI.
Devin McDaniel was hit by pitch and scored.
Cesar Perez went three innings, and he was charged with three runs on six hits.
Perez walked one and fanned one WCHS batter,
Jordan Arredondo got the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and a walk.
Gabriel Diaz doubled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Trailing 5-4, Diaz scored from third on a throw to second.
Joaquin Diaz and Rob Melendez singled and scored one run apiece.
Melendez was also hit by pitch.
Ryan Romero singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Levi Ruiz drew a pair of walks and scored.
His run came on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth for what turned out to be the game winning run.
Griffey Moncada walked, singled in a run and scored.
Rieleigh Rangel had an RBI single in the second inning to give West Covina a 2-0 lead.
Ethan Okazaki went 2-for-4 and Andrew Maldonado singled.
Eight WCHS players had at least one hit.
Up next: The Bulldogs will host Covina on Wednesday in the first of a two-game Valle Vista League series.
