College Baseball:
Mt. SAC has done exactly what is expected.
The Mounties have taken the first two games of their three-game South Coast Conference series with last-place Compton by scores of 15-3 and 13-2 on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.
On Thursday, Mt. SAC had an 18-5 advantage in hits.
Gabriel Cancino got the loss after getting roughed up for 10 runs (six earned) on 10 hits over five innings.
Cancino issued three walks and registered six strikeouts.
Jackson Giacone hit a two-run HR in the top of the sixth.
Frankie Brazil drew a pair of walks, singled twice and scored three runs.
Andrew Alva went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and two RBIs.
Jose Gomez had two singles.
Nick Mejia went 3-for-4 with a double, run and three RBIs.
Hudson Karczynski walked, singled twice, scored three runs and drove in two.
Luca Lombardi and Chip Mertz had two singles and one run scored apiece.
Ryan Castro drove in one run on a sac fly and another on an RBI ground out.
Mario Cuadros had an RBI single.
Tyler Primanto singled and Terrell Jackson scored in Thursday’s road win.
Hudson Castillo went five scoreless innings and scattered three hits to earn the win.
Castillo walked one and fanned one Compton batter.
Anthony Macias hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth.
Julian Arellano went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the eighth.
Jason Torres walked and singled.
Nick Hernandez walked and scored.
Corey Guy singled in the loss.
Up next: The Mounties will host Compton on Friday at 2.
