Nick Velazquez & Cam Casado Home Runs in Seventh & Ninth Innings Lead Citrus to a 5-4 WSC Victory at Antelope Valley College

For the second time in 48 hours, the Antelope Valley College offense had multi-run early innings.

And for the second consecutive game, the Citrus pitching staff dusted itself off and held the Marauders scoreless the rest of the way.

After scoring twice in the bottom of the first and second innings and taking a 4-2 lead over the visiting Owls, the Antelope Valley bats were held silent for the final seven innings.

Citrus scored once in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings to secure a 5-4 victory.

With seven games remaining in the regular season, the Owls have already won 10 more games than in all of 2025.

Conner Luetto went 6 2/3 innings and he was charged with four runs on six hits.

Luetto walked four and fanned five AVC batters.

Sean York provided 2 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief to earn the win.

York issued one walk and registered a pair of strikeouts.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Elias Frainier hit a two-run homer.

One inning later, Armando Saucedo tripled in a run, and Jacob Baxter had an RBI single to give the Marauders a 4-2 lead.

Cody Rollings drew a pair of walks, doubled and scored.

Drew Watkins doubled and scored.

Baxter finished 2-for-4 with the RBI.

Drew Leuders went four innings for AVC and he was charged with two runs on three hits.

He walked five and fanned three Citrus batters.

Gilbert Beltran surrendered one run on two hits and a walk over 2/3 of an inning.

Jacob Maldonado got the loss after allowing two runs on five hits over the final 4 1/3 innings.

Maldonado didn’t give a free pass and struck out a pair of Owls.

Cole West walked, doubled and scored.

Jackson Gray walked, drove in a run on a first-inning sac fly and scored.

Julian Hines walked, singled and scored.

Nick Velazquez walked and his solo shot in the eighth tied the game at 4-4.

Cam Casado went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, and his solo home run in the top of the ninth was the difference.

Beau Lloyd had an RBI single in the fifth.

Garrett Patterson went 3-for-3 with an RBI single in the second inning.

Joe Gilkeson singled in Thursday’s win.

Up next: Mother Nature willing, the Owls go for the three-game sweep on Saturday at 1 in Glendora.
