Baseball:
Chino Hills has opened Baseline League play with a pair of wins against Upland.
On Monday, CHHS claimed a 7-3 victory.
Two days later, and the Huskies left Memorial Park with a 5-3 victory over their host.
With the game tied at 2-2, Chino Hills scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Matt Tejada got the win after going five innings and allowing two runs on three hits.
Tejada issued three walks and struck out three UHS batters.
Max Zaldivar earned the save by going the sixth and seventh innings and being charged with one run on four hits.
Zaldivar did not walk a batter and fanned three.
Ryan May hit a two-run HR in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 2-2, and a solo home run in the seventh.
May finished 3-for-4 with two runs and the three RBIs.
Andrew Armendarez drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Carson Kinnick walked and singled.
Angelo Mantilla, Dylan Trejo and Tommy Lopez had one single apiece for the Highlanders.
Elliot Cresap got the loss after surrendering five runs (two earned) on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.
Cresap issued one walk and registered six strikeouts.
Ezekiel Cortez (1 1/3 IP) and Dylan Montoya (1) combined to go 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and both allowed one hit.
Brooks Buoncristiani singled twice and scored.
Anthony Medyn got the Huskies on the board with an RBI single in the top of the second inning.
Branden Kim hit a solo home run in the top of the third to give CHHS a 2-0 lead.
Jacob Jimenez singled twice and scored.
Ryan Dabuet and Brooks Buoncristiani singled and scored one run apiece.
Jayden Kim had a two-run single.
Andrew Baldomino drove in a run on a sac fly.
Up next: The Highlanders and Huskies meet up Saturday morning at 11 at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga to complete their three-game set.
