Baseball:
La Salle heads home from Tennessee with a 13-1 victory over Father Ryan High.
The Lancers split their doubleheader with Lipscomb Academy on Saturday, and they out-hit Father Ryan, 15-6, in Nashville, on Monday.
La Salle led 8-0 before the Irish scored once in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Nico Armendariz went six strong to earn the win.
He surrendered one run on five hits.
Armendariz issued one walk and registered nine strikeouts.
Julio Barrera got the final three outs without any damage, including one via strikeout.
Andrew Buccola had a pair of singles, including an RBI base hit in the sixth to drive in Father Ryan’s lone run of the game.
Kellen Stevens singled, doubled and scored.
Vince Kane and Tommy Rodgers singled for the Irish.
Will Carr got the loss after surrendering six runs (one earned) on five hits over 2 2/3 innings.
He walked a pair of fanned three Lancers.
For the second consecutive game, Chris Cardenas doubled and homered.
Cardenas hit a leadoff solo shot and scored twice.
Drew Ward had a big day, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run and four RBIs.
Ward had an RBI single, an RBI double and a two-run double in the five-run seventh inning.
Travis Ochoa went 2-for-4, was hit by pitch, scored three runs and drove in one.
Daniel Ruiz had a pair of singles, two runs and an RBI.
Andrew Klein went 1-for-3, was hit by pitch, scored twice and drove in one run on a sac fly.
Frane Flores drew three walks and singled.
James Hall singled and scored.
Isaiah Romero went 2-for-2 with a run and one RBI when he got hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Chase Billups was hit by pitch and scored.
Gabriel Arias singled once in the win.
Miguel Romero drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the third inning.
Up next: The Lancers will host San Marino on Saturday afternoon at 1.
