Covina secured Valle Vista League victory No. 1 on Friday.
The Colts edged their visitors from Northview after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Isaac Flores went six innings and he surrendered four runs on six hits.
Flores issued a pair of walks and registered six strikeouts.
Izziah Seieroe earned the save with a scoreless seventh inning.
Noah Martinez had a pair of singles.
Jayden Chagollan went 2-for-3 with a two-run HR in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.
Jaime Gallardo hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Ezekiel Martinez walked and scored.
Jake Aguilar and Michael Mendoza had one hit apiece for the Vikings.
Evan Bustamante went 3 1/3 innings, and he surrendered four runs on four hits.
Bustamante walked four and struck out six Covina batters.
Marcos Luna was charged with two runs on four hits over 2 2/3 innings.
He issued one walk and registered a pair of strikeouts.
Donovan Johnson went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Aiden Ayala went 2-for-2 with a walk, run and a two-run double.
Damien Morimoto drew a pair of walks and scored.
