Baseball:
Rio Hondo Prep won its third consecutive game, including a pair in the last two days.
On Thursday, the Kares defeated their visitors from Duarte, 8-5, on 24 hours later, RHP dropped a 14-3 beatdown on Palmdale Academy Charter in six innings.
Leading 5-3, Rio Hondo Prep scored eight times in the bottom of the sixth to earn the win via mercy rule.
Alessio Ruiz went four innings and he was charged with five runs (four earned) on seven hits.
Ruiz issued one walk and registered five strikeouts.
Romeo Jimenez was roughed up for eight runs (four earned) on two hits, four walks and one hit batter over 1 2/3 innings.
Nic Harrington went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Yanick Diaz walked, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Benicio Tardino went 3-for-4 with a run, triple and three RBIs.
Deven Gomez walked, was hit by pitch and scored two runs.
Landon Scott walked, singled, scored three runs and drove in a pair.
Jacob Gomez singled in a run and scored.
Aaron Sanchez had an RBI single.
Abhi Patel had an RBI ground out and scored.
Elijah Gavia drew a bases loaded walk.
Nate Harwood, Micah Wang and Isaac Guzman scored one run apiece for the Kares.
Benicio Tardino went two scoreless innings and allowed one hit.
Tardino didn’t give away a free pass and struck out three PAC batters.
The Jaguars got two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk off Aaron Sanchez in one inning of work.
Abhi Patel got the final nine outs, including six via strikeout.
Cash Torres had a two-run single in the third and an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Alessio Ruiz walked and scored.
Johnny Pattico singled, was hit by pitch and scored two runs.
Jacob Martinez singled to account for the rest of the PAC offense.
Up next: The Kares will host Flintridge Prep on Tuesday, February 14th in the first of a two-game Prep League series that week.
