Baseball:
Apparently, it’s Ayala and then everyone else in the Palomares League.
The Bulldogs, ranked eighth in the state by MaxPreps, cruised to an 11-2 victory at Bonita to secure the two-game league sweep.
So far, AHS is 4-0, and they outscored Glendora and Bonita by a combined margin of 33-7.
Caleb Trugman earned the win after going five innings and allowing one run on four hits.
Trugman didn’t issue a walk and registered six strikeouts.
Jake Zandbergen was charged with an unearned run on one hit and a walk over two innings.
Esteban Parra had an RBI single in the fifth.
Andrew Lomeli singled and scored.
Joaquin Mendez and Brady Horn had one single apiece for the Bearcats.
Dalton Storm walked and scored.
Andrew Jeffers was saddled with the loss after surrendering seven runs (six earned) on five hits over 1 1/3 innings.
Jeffers walked two and fanned one AHS batter.
Adam Raab was charged with four unearned runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Raab didn’t give a free pass and registered four strikeouts.
Trugman helped his own cause with two singles and a pair of RBIs.
Ivan Ruddell went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs and two RBIs.
Jaden Valenzuela singled and scored twice.
Elijah Duarte went 1-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.
Dylan Wood singled and scored.
Jonah Boyd and Eric Hernandez walked and scored one run apiece.
Easton Sarmiento had an RBI double in the top of the first and scored.
Jrue Hurd went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Aiden Granados singled once in the win.
The game featured 10 errors, including seven by BHS.
Up next: The Bearcats host Diamond Bar on Wednesday in the first of a two-game Palomares League series.
The Brahmas split their two-game set with Claremont.
