Ryan Castro Goes 4-for-7 w/Three RBIs, Including Game Winner in Mt. SAC’s 9-8 SCC Victory Over PCC in 12 Innings

College Baseball:

Mt. SAC scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings.

And the Mounties would edge their visitors from PCC, 9-8, in 12 innings.

The game featured 17 runs, nine pitchers, 30 hits, including six extra-base hits and four errors.

With the win, Mt. SAC remains one-game back of first-place El Camino in the South Coast Conference standings.

Tomas Bilvado got the start, and the Lancers got to him for six runs (three earned) on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Bilvado walked one and fanned one.

Seth Sumner was charged with two runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Sumner didn’t issue a walk and registered two strikeouts.

The Mounties got five scoreless innings in relief from Cash Carroll (2IP) and Juan Verduzco (3), respectively.

Both allowed two hits and Carroll totaled two strikeouts.

Diego Gurfein went 3-for-6 with a double, triple, run and three RBIs.

Omar Cisneros walked, singled twice and scored.

Xiovany Ochoa went 3-for-7, including a double and an RBI single in the sixth to give PCC a 6-4 lead.

Chris Torres singled and scored.

Luke Bauer went 2-for-6 with an RBI single and an RBI fielder’s choice.

Isaac Ton walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.

Jacob Escamilla went 2-for-6 with a run and one RBI.

Joey Ramos had an RBI single in the three-run sixth inning and he scored twice.

Camren Lobo started for the Lancers, and he surrendered three runs on three hits over three innings.

Lobo issued four walks and registered one strikeout.

Alex Valencia provided 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits.

Valencia walked two and fanned one Mountie.

Matt Garcia was charged with a pair of unearned runs on one hit and a pair of walks over 1 2/3 inning.

Garcia struck out one batter.

Sergio Robles went 1 2/3 innings, and he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.

Robles got three of his five outs via strikeout.

AJ Flores got the loss after surrendering one run on two hits over 2 2/3 innings.

He walked one and struck out a pair of Mt. SAC batters.

Ryan Castro went 4-for-7 with a double, three RBI singles, including one in the bottom of the 12th to drive in the winning run.

Hudson Karczynski walked, singled, doubled and scored twice.

Jackson Giacone walked, singled and scored.

Nick Mejia drew three walks, singled twice and scored three times.

Luca Lombardi walked, had an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth and scored.

Frankie Brazil singled in a pair of runs.

Froilan Serna’s two-run double in the seventh pulled Mt. SAC to within 8-6 of PCC.

AC Nieto singled, scored and reached base in the ninth which allowed the tying run to score.

Up next: The Mounties travel to Brookside Park on Thursday at 2 for game two of their three-game series with the Lancers.
