Baseball:
West Covina secured its third win of the season on Wednesday at Rancho Cucamonga.
The Bulldogs edged the Cougars, 3-2, behind a solid effort on the mound from Cristian Lazo.
Lazo went 6 2/3 innings, and he was charged with two runs on seven hits.
Lazo issued four walks and registered four strikeouts.
Danny Pineda got the final out.
Jared Mock singled and doubled.
Ryan Peralta went 2-for-3.
Braeden Christian walked and singled.
Rowan Suchanek walked and scored.
Ethan Diaz went 1-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.
Grant Thomas singled in the loss.
Joey Lopez went the distance for RCHS, and he was charged with three runs (two earned) on five hits.
Lopez didn’t walk anyone and struck out four West Covina batters.
Andrew Maldonado double, hit a solo home run and scored a pair of runs.
Joaquin Diaz singled twice and scored.
Ryan Romero and Griffey Moncada had RBI singles in the top of the first and second innings, respectively.
Up next: The Bulldogs travel to South Pasadena on Friday at 3:30.
The Cougars will host King next Friday at 3:15.
