Baseball:
South Hills won the first two games of its three-game Hacienda League series against San Dimas.
On Thursday, the Huskies were attempting to sweep their second league opponent after winning three against Los Altos.
However, SDHS senior Eleazar Santillan had other plans.
Santillan went the distance and allowed one run on three hits.
He didn’t issue a walk and registered five strikeouts.
Seventy-eight percent (66-of-85) of Santillan’s pitches were strikes.
Diego Villarreal went 2-for-3.
Hudson Hempel hit a two-out solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to account for the Huskies run.
Nicholas Carrillo was charged with three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks over 1 1/3 innings.
Aiden Mirabal went three innings, and he allowed one run on two hits.
Mirabal walked one and fanned a trio of Saints.
Hempel provided 1 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief and struck out one.
James Rocha doubled in a first-inning run to give San Dimas a 1-0 lead, and he scored once.
Josh Calcanas and Aaden Escarcega walked and scored one run apiece.
Louis Farias went 2-for-2, including an RBI single in the first to plate Rocha.
Micah Cooper doubled and scored.
Anderson Markese had an RBI ground out.
Santillan walked and singled.
Up next: The Huskies will face Poway on Monday at 4.
The Saints will battle Irvine on Saturday morning at 10.
