Softball:
A pair of 11-win teams met up Wednesday night at AHS.
Glendora cut through the drama early with eight runs in the top of the third inning, and they went on to defeat Arcadia, 10-2.
The Tartans out-hit the Apaches, 13-4, including a 4-2 edge in extra-base hits.
Emma Garcia started in the circle for GHS, and she faced a bases loaded and no outs situation in the bottom of the first after a pair of singles and a walk.
The freshman, though, induced a fly ball to right and struck out the next two batters to escape the jam.
She went three innings and scattered three hits.
Garcia issued a pair of walks and registered five strikeouts.
Gianna Messick closed out the win with four innings in relief, and she was charged with two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks.
Messick fanned a trio of Apaches.
Cecile Crowder singled, doubled and scored.
Lilly Dawkins walked, doubled and scored.
Andrea Garcia walked and singled.
Kiara Gomez had an RBI ground out in the seventh.
Peyton Fox went all seven for AHS, and she was charged with 10 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits.
Fox walked four and fanned a pair of Tartans.
Siena Bobadilla had a pair of doubles, scored and drove in two runs.
Morgan Gonzalez drew a pair of walks, doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.
Garcia went 3-for-4 with a two-run triple and scored a pair of runs.
Ayva Cabuena walked, singled and scored.
Kiley Coleman had an RBI single, and she bunted in another run.
Ryan Torres had an RBI single and scored.
Lauren Curiel went 2-for-3 with a walk and one RBI.
Kennedy Bowers had a pair of singles.
Addison Bowers scored once in the win.
Up next: The Tartans host Ayala next Wednesday.
The Apaches travel to Burbank next Thursday.

Our two pitchers have been an amazing tandem all season long and have set the tone for season. Garcia wiggled out of some early inning trouble with her ability to pitch out of jams. Messick came in and kept in going by showing her ability to mix speeds and spin the ball. Garcia is a fantastic freshman who has given huge boost to our staff for, as she joined our league MVP Gianna Messick from last year, to form a pair of aces. Messick showed for four years on varsity how tough she is in the circle. Our eight-run rally featured clutch hits throughout our lineup, saw us run the bases extremely well, as we mixed in some key small ball. That’s what led to our ability to build some cushion against a fierce opponent.”
