College Baseball:
Mt. SAC destroyed their hosts from Cerritos, 18-3, to secure their SCC series, 2-1.
The Falcons didn’t score their first run until the bottom of the fifth inning.
And they trailed 14-0.
The Mounties out-hit Cerritos, 24-8, and they had a 5-3 advantage in extra-base hits.
Mt. SAC scored two runs or more against each of the five Falcons’ hurlers.
Logan Hunt was charged with six runs on nine hits over three innings to get the loss.
Hunt issued three walks and fanned a pair of Mounties.
Tyler Primanto walked, scored three times, drove in a run on a sac fly, had an RBI single and a two-run homer.
Brock Foulds went 2-for-4 with a walk, run and four RBIs.
AC Nieto singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in one on a sac fly.
Luca Lombardi went 3-for-5 with a pair of walks, three runs and one RBI.
Frankie Brazil doubled and scored.
Mario Cuadros went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Jackson Giacone had a pair of singles and doubles, scored twice and drove in one.
Hudson Karcynski went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and one RBI.
Ryan Castro walked, doubled and scored.
Chip Mertz went 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs.
Moses Trejo singled and had an RBI ground out.
Brenden Menchaca got the win after going six innings and allowing one run on five hits.
Menchaca didn’t give away a free pass and struck out five Cerritos batters.
Jack Rudometkin and Cash Carroll provided one scoreless inning in relief, and Rudometkin struck out the side in the eighth inning.
Hudson Comer hit a solo home run.
Jacob Curnean singled and scored.
Ricky Ahumada had a two-run double in the seventh inning.
Brody Cuellar doubled.
Up next: The Mounties will host Citrus on Tuesday, and travel to Glendora to battle the Owls on Thursday in a nonconference two-game series.
