Men’s Basketball:
Citrus didn’t want any drama in the first round of the 3C2A State playoffs.
The Owls cruised to an 84-54 victory over West Valley College from Saratoga.
The young men from Glendora took an 18-point lead into the break.
They also had a 52-34 shooting percentage advantage from the field.
Citrus made nine more free throws (22-of-31) than West Valley (5-of-13) attempted.
Amiri Meadows, JJ Sanchez and Dev Hamilton scored 16 points apiece in the win.
Meadows was 7-of-7 from the free-throw line, and he tallied four steals and two assists.
Sanchez hit a pair of 3-pointers, grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists.
Hamilton went 6-of-8 from the field, tallied a team-high seven rebounds, and he produced three assists and a pair of steals.
Leo Ricketts chipped in with 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Ricketts went 3-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Ryan Roth led the Vikings with 16 points.
Roth finished with two rebounds and a pair of assists.
David Manea came off the bench and provided 11 points and two rebounds.
Up next: The Owls will face City College of San Francisco for the third consecutive year in the semifinal round.
CCSF won both contests.
They Rams secured its spot with a 78-67 victory over San Diego City College.
Both programs enter Saturday’s showdown with identical 30-1 records.
Citrus has won 25 consecutive games, and San Francisco has a 19-game win streak.
The tip is set for 7.
