Tanner Grable’s Three-Run Home Run in Bottom of Fifth Inning Sparked Glendora to a 4-1 Victory Over Downey

Baseball:

Glendora snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday.

The Tartans got a timely hit and took advantage of four Downey errors in a 4-1 victory at GHS.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, and with two on and two outs, Tanner Grable hit a three-run HR over the left field fence.

Following Grable, Diego Garza singled, Sebastian Lawrence doubled and Aidan Yamazaki walked to load the bases.

Cody Baeza pinch-ran for Garza and he scored on a wild pitch.

Xavier Renteria was saddled with the loss after surrendering four unearned runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Renteria issued four walks and registered six strikeouts.

Riley Cooper walked and scored.

Troy Norman reached base on an error and scored.

Jude Garcia and John Seader had one single apiece.

Andy Flores went 3 2/3 innings, and he was charged with one run on six hits.

Flores walked three and fanned a pair of Downey batters.

Preston Tymchak provided 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing a pair of hits and one walk to get credited with the win.

Troy Norman earned the save by going a scoreless and hitless seventh inning.

Eddie Causley walked and his RBI single in the third gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Roel Mercedes went 2-for-4.

Sebastian Cortez singled twice and scored.

Nick Segura doubled, while Gabriel Gomez and Morise Robinson had one single apiece.
