Bonita Overcomes Villegas & Schlim’s Five HRs & 11 RBIs to Defeat San Dimas, 13-12, in Golden Glove Rivalry Game

Wow!

What a thrilling back-and-forth Golden Glove rivalry showdown between the San Dimas and Bonita softball programs.

The Bearcats narrowly edged the visiting Saints, 13-12, on Tuesday.

BHS led 7-1 as the game entered the top of the third inning, and SDHS had a 12-10 advantage in the sixth.

Serenity Reyes was credited with the win after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing six runs on six hits.

Reyes walked four and fanned three San Dimas batters.

Sara Yeats went 2 1/3 innings, and she surrendered four runs on six hits and a walk.

Natalia Wu was charged with two runs (one earned) on one hit over 1 1/3 innings.

Wu walked one and struck out two batters.

The bats of Tiffany Villegas and Audrey Schlim were on fire.

Schlim went 3-for-5 with a pair of solo and one two-run HR.

Tiffany Villegas had a three-run double, a pair of two-run HRs, and she scored three times.

Malia Arochi drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.

Mia Patlan singled, doubled and scored.

Adrianna Rosales walked twice, singled and scored three runs.

Mikaela Ketterling walked, singled and scored.

Savannah Clelland had an RBI single in the top of the fifth.

The inability to find the strike zone was critical for San Dimas.

Villegas started in the circle, and she was charged with seven unearned runs on five hits and three walks over 1 2/3 innings.

Brooke D’Amato went 4 2/3 innings, and she allowed six runs on seven hits and nine walks.

Neither SDHS pitcher registered a strikeout.

Sara Yeats drew three walks, scored three times, hit a three-run HR and finished with four RBIs.

Yeats’ bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh allowed the winning run to score.

Madi Arzate went 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs, and her two-run HR in the sixth tied the game at 12-12.

Leah Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a double, run and one RBI.

Adrianna Mangini singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in one.

Koa Puppe drew three walks, had one RBI and scored three runs.

Laney Sweeney walked and singled.

Reyes went 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.

Kiana Crawford walked three times, singled, scored and drove in one run.

Kelli Okayama scored and Hayden Andrew singled in the win.

Up next: The Saints visit Santiago today (Wednesday) at 3:30.

The Bearcats travel to Beckman on Thursday at 3:30.
