Quotable:
Chaffey coach, Grant Mayeaux: “We’ve struggled this season, and it’s no secret. We caught a couple breaks in the first two games that helped us get those wins. Today, we did a really good job of working the Victor Valley starter’s pitch count and were finally able to get to him in the sixth inning. Offensively, we especially did a great job with two outs, which was big for us. Hopefully that helps build some confidence as we head into an important series next week against Cerro Coso. I told the team we still have a long way to go in terms of consistently playing all three facets of the game, but I’m really proud of the way they competed and stayed together as a group this week.”
