Softball:
What are the odds a program loses in mercy rule fashion in spite of scoring five runs in the first two innings?
Not very good, it would seem.
But that’s exactly what happened to Arroyo on Wednesday afternoon at San Dimas.
The Knights got one in the first and four more in the second, but the Knights would pound out a 15-5 victory in five innings.
The Saints had an 18-8 advantage in base hits.
Arroyo got five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks off Isabella Bernal in 1 1/3 innings.
Brooke D’Amato would earn the win after going 3 2/3 scoreless innings on two hits.
D’Amato issued three walks and registered a pair of strikeouts.
Leslie Saldivar went 2-for-2 with a double, one run and two RBIs.
Ruby Morales walked singled and scored.
Savannah Limon walked and scored.
Melanie Borgen walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Savannah Limon has seen better days in the circle.
She was charged with 15 runs (12 earned) on 18 hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Limon walked three and fanned a trio of SDHS batters.
Mikaela Ketterling went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Audrey Schlim also had four hits, including a double, a three-run HR and four total RBIs.
Tiffany Villegas went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, which included a two-run HR.
Mia Patlan walked, doubled, tripled, scored twice and drove in one run.
Adrianna Rosales walked and scored two runs.
Malia Arochi walked, singled three times and scored a pair of runs.
Carlie Veas went 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Savannah Clelland singled, scored and drove in one.
Jaidyn Baeza drove in a run on a sac fly.
Up next: The Saints will host Don Lugo on Monday at 3:30.
