Wrestling:

Nineteen wrestlers from 210 Prep Sports programs have earned their spot at next week’s CIF State Championships in Bakersfield.

The top four placers from each of the 14 weight classes at Saturday’s CIF-SS Masters Meet advance to the three-day event inside the Dignity Health Arena.

Of the 19 qualifiers, three earned individual titles and six placed second at Sonora High School in La Habra.

Northview had an area-best seven state qualifiers, including a pair of champs.

Etiwanda is sending five, Upland three, West Covina two, South Hills one and Aubreyelle Baeza will represent San Dimas.

Mia Hooper secured Northview’s first title.

Hooper dominated her way to a 125-pound championship in the blue bracket.

She pinned Great Oak’s Mila Cal Ortiz (1:06), Bonita’s Lexi Cooprider (3:48) and San Clemente’s Kenslie Watts (1:53) in the first, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively.

In the final, Hooper cruised to a 10-1 victory over Santa Ana’s Tiffany Nguyen.

West Covina’s Julie Cimarusti earned her second consecutive title.

Cimarusti got a first-round bye.

She pinned Ayala’s Tatiana Chavarin in 37 seconds in the quarterfinal.

Cimarusti secured the 140-pound blue title with victories over Elsinore’s Rylee Moorehead (16-1) and Downey’s Ivana Cuellar (14-7).

Northview’s Sumaya Lazaro claimed the 140-pound gold championship.

In the first round, Lazaro pinned Gahr’s Isabella Jamison in just 37 seconds.

She stuck Paloma Valley’s Jiana Rivera at 3:46.

And Lazaro secured semifinal and title-bout victories over Cypress’ Bella Lyrse (9-4), and Peninsula’s Gianna Lopez (8-3).

Sophia Lazaro (Northview) went 3-1 at 105 pounds (gold), including a 12-5 victory over Huntington Beach’s Bella Mora, a 20-8 major over Mater Dei’s Valentina Medina and a pin of Arroyo’s Dalylah Mora at 1:43.

In the final, San Marino’s Malia Manibog claimed a 14-5 victory over Lazaro.

Melissa Acosta (West Covina) was the 110-pound runner up in the blue bracket.

Acosta pinned El Monte’s Jaqueline Ramirez at 1:52, followed by a tech fall (15-0) over Edison’s Victoria Ashlock, and she stuck No. 2 seeded Nohea Booth (Marina) in 55 seconds.

In the final, Peninsula’s Leila Witzerman pinned Acosta at 3:31.

Marci Cueva (Northview) placed second in the 130-pound Blue Division.

Cueva opened with an 18-2 tech fall over Delia Espinoza (Downey), 18-2, and she followed that up with a pin in 39 seconds over Sultana’s Angelina Garcia.

Cueva defeated Santa Ana’s Marley Nelson in the semifinal before falling 11-3 to Newbury Park’s Madison Black.

Jules Sitani (Northview) was the 145-pound blue runner up.

Sitani pinned La Serna’s Olivia Cherian (2:13), Silverado’s Lilianne Donan (1:11) and Norwalk’s Amber Farr (5:10) to earn a spot in the final.

Corona’s Jestinah Solomua secured her title with a 15-1 victory over Sitani.

Sophia Lopez (Upland) finished second in the 170-pound Gold Division.

Lopez opened the tournament with a tech fall (17-0) over Mission Viejo’s Hanna Morales, followed by a 7-0 victory over Walnut’s Nicole Chavez and another tech fall (16-1) versus Rancho Cucamonga’s Hailey Aban.

Rio Mesa’s Brooklyn Bittner defeated Lopez, 8-3, in their title bout.

Aubreyelle Baeza (San Dimas) placed second in the 190-pound blue bracket.

Baeza dominated her way into the final, including pins over Ventura’s Graesyn Lee (38 seconds), Downey’s Janice Soto (39), and Etiwanda’s Sonia Ibarra (1:26).

In the title bout, No. 1 Estefany Caballero of Orange Lutheran edged Baeza, the No. 2 seed, 1-0.
