Fountain Valley was a pretty stingy host at this weekend’s CIF-SS Coastal Division Individuals.
The Barons secured eight of the 14 weight classes.
In fact, FVHS rolled off six consecutive individual titles between 138-175.
Of those six, three came via tech fall, as well as one pin, a major decision and a 4-2 victory at 175 pounds.
San Dimas had a pair of finalists.
At 144 pounds, Fountain Valley’s Kavi Garvey dominated SDHS’ Daniel Baeza, 18-1.
Six weights later, Michael Baeza claimed the 215-pound individual championship thanks to a 7-0 victory over Fountain Valley’s Rocky Windrath.
Baeza pinned his first four opponents before his showdown with Windrath.
All four pins came in the first period.
Rex Topete of South Hills narrowly lost (4-2) to Fountain Valley’s Brayden Carson in the 175-pound title bout.
Alta Loma had finalists at 190 and 285 pounds.
Carter’s Michael Martinez defeated Alta Loma’s Jared De Leon, 10-4, at 190.
And Warren heavyweight closed out the two-day event with a pin of ALHS’ Nathan Solano at 4:23.
