Palomares League Finals:
The Walnut girls dominated at Saturday’s league finals at Claremont High School.
The Lady Mustangs earned 10 of the 13 individual titles, including seven via pinfall.
Ayala’s Tatiana Chavarin pinned Bonita’s Sarah Selby in 64 seconds to secure the 140-pound championship.
Katherine Perez-Patron pinned Walnut’s Prab Kaur at 2:14 in the 155-pound title bout.
Bonita’s Lynn Garcia clinched the 115-pound crown with an 11-9 victory over Ayala’s Jaylyn Gonzales.
There were no competitors at 235 pounds.
The Walnut boys had six individual winners.
Bonita left CHS with four individual boys champs.
Elias Echeveste dominated Walnut’s Israel Morales, 18-0, in the 120-pound title bout.
Jacob Fernandez wasted no time, and stuck Glendora’s Jase Davis in 26 seconds to secure the 144-pound championship.
Thomas Jimenez pinned Luke Shafer in 1:37 to win the 157-pound crown.
And heavyweight Matt Mijares edged Ayala’s Isaiah Romero in the final match on Saturday.
Ayala’s Jayren Chan earned the 113-pound title by pinning Walnut’s Kaiden Lepe at 2:22.
The Bulldogs also got tourney wins from Elias Salloum and Mason Eligio.
Salloum pinned Glendora’s Alexander Hom at 1:11, and Eligio stuck Claremont’s Matt Blek at 4:48.
The top three placers at each weight class for the girls’ heads to Adelanto High School this coming weekend, and the boys travel to Canyon Springs for the CIF-SS Individuals.
