Football:
Last week, Allan Hancock College reportedly didn’t have enough ‘healthy bodies’ to take on Mt. SAC.
Miraculously, the Bulldogs got well enough in seven days to host Citrus College in the regular season finale.
Apparently, they didn’t know the Owls were the only program to hand the Mounties a loss in 2025.
And while Hancock got out to 14-0 and 20-7 leads, Citrus would go on a 34-0 run and cruise to a 51-31 victory.
Brian Salazar accounted for five TDs.
Salazar completed 21-of-35 for 292 yards.
He tossed three TDs and one pick.
Salazar hooked up with Cameron Bateman on TD passes of 28 and 55 yards.
The former Monrovia signal caller fired a 20-yard scoring strike to Daniel Tarabey in the fourth quarter.
Salazar also had a pair of 2-yard TD runs, and he finished with 43 yards on eight carries.
Keyonn Chatman gained a game-high 87 yards on 19 carries.
Chatman scored on TD runs of 3 and 12 yards.
Bateman led all receivers with seven catches for 107 yards, including the two TDs.
Lorenza Simmons had four receptions for 82 yards.
Jalen Thompson and Keaton Morales had three catches apiece for 31 yards.
Jacob Cox and Bear Baker led the Citrus defense with five tackles apiece.
Donovan Perez, Maddox Barrios and Tyson Toscano tallied four tackles each.
Esteban Altamirano picked a pass for the Citrus defense.
Up next: The Owls will find out on Sunday if they’ve earned a postseason game.
