The Eagles’ tennis program finished our Mission Valley League season with a second consecutive undefeated season.
Marshall ran the MVL slate of their schedule at 10-0.
Today, we wrapped up the Mission Valley League Prelims & Finals.
Our team was dominant in the league tournament.
The singles final featured our top two players pitted against one another.
It was Marshall singles No. 1, Hannah Hagiwara, No. 2, Diana Kasabian.
This created a win-win scenario for the Marshall, and it was a repeat of last season’s final.
However, this time, the result was different.
Kasabian earned the MVL singles championship by scores of 2-6, 6-4 and 10-8.
Our No. 3 singles player, Bailee Maxwell, made it to the semifinals, where she faced off with her teammate, Diana Kasabian.
Bailee ended up with the third-place consolation prize.
Our No. 1 Doubles team of Elena Edmonds & Keri Altamirano (formerly Keri Santiago) dominated the doubles competition.
They cruised through the doubles’ final in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1 against an Arroyo tandem.
Our No. 2 doubles team, Sophia Alpuche & Lexie Palacios, lost in the semifinals to their teammates, Elena & Keri.
They finished with a fourth-place consolation prize.
Diana & Hannah will be representing the MVL in CIF-SS Individual competition in late November after CIF Team Competition is over on Nov 14, as will our No. 1 doubles team, Elena & Keri.
CIF-SS team competition begins next Wednesday.
The CIF bracket will be posted online at www.cifss.org this Saturday morning.
At that time, we will know who and where our first-round opponent will be.
