Football:
San Dimas’ struggles against their SGV area rivals continued on Friday night.
Five weeks ago, the Saints fell to Bonita for the seventh consecutive time (28-14) in the Smudge Pot rivalry game at Mt. SAC.
Over that stretch, Steve Bogan is 7-0 against San Dimas’ Mark Holman, and the Bearcats have outscored SDHS, 215-87.
The Saints Valle Vista League rivalry with Northview is reaching Bonita-like numbers.
NHS scored the first 42 points, and they cruised to a 42-7 road victory in a game that featured a running clock at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Marcel Perez boasts a 5-0 record over the last five seasons against San Dimas, and of the 202 combined points in those games, the Vikings have scored 160.
The Lucero boys continue to shine.
Robert tossed TD passes of 37, 19 and 84 yards to Isaiah.
Dominic Munoz had TD runs of 3 and 1 yard.
Aaron Guillen’s 8-yard TD run in the first quarter gave Northview a 14-0 lead.
Isaiah Lucero totaled 171 yards receiving on six catches, and for the second game in a row, he picked a pass.
Robert Lucero threw for north of 225 yards.
San Dimas’ lone score was a 43-yard Jacob Gallegos TD run with just north of three minutes to play.
Up next: The Vikings will host Diamond Ranch next Friday at Covina District Field.

Quotable:
Northview coach, Marcel Perez: “I was just happy that we didn’t shoot ourselves in the foot. We were able to run and pass the ball. We played great defense and shut down their running game. I think we played really well collectively and our offensive line blocked well. I still think we made some mistakes. If we don’t beat ourselves, I don’t think anyone else can. With that said, we need to get better every week.
