Football:

For only the second time in seven years, the Alta Loma football program has secured six or more wins

The Lions cruised to a 33-20 Valle Vista League victory over their visitors from Diamond Ranch.

And don’t let the final score mislead you.

ALHS was in command from the jump, and DRHS scored on the final play of the game.

Alta Loma’s six victories match the program’s win total in 2023 and 2024 combined.

The Lions led 21-0 at the half, and the outcome was never in doubt.

ALHS continues to get solid contributions from its underclassmen, and that includes freshman quarterback, Maximus Fierro.

Fierro tossed four TDs and one pick.

He had a pair of 10-yard TD passes to Nathan Bozek and Semaj Stewart, respectively.

The two TD receptions gave Alta Loma 7-0 and 21-0 leads in the first half.

Fierro hooked up with Bryant Avila on TD connections of 18 and 25 yards.

Izaih Brown’s 3-yard TD run in the first quarter accounted for the rest of the Lions’ offense.

Diamond Ranch quarterback Isaiah Salinas tossed a pair of TD passes and ran for another.

Salinas and Roman Garcia teamed up on TD connections of 68 and 25 yards.

Salinas had an 18-yard TD run in the third quarter to pull the Panthers to within 28-14 of the Lions.

ALHS has a reputation, fair or not, of getting out to solid starts but fading somewhat in the second half.

And that’s something Alta Loma coach Tyler Perri and his staff emphasized after the game.

The gist of his message was to challenge his players to play four full quarters, especially with Northview, San Dimas and the CIF-SS playoffs just around the corner.

Alta Loma’s offense gets much of the credit for the successful 2025 season.

However, one could make the argument that the ALHS defense was as good or better than the Lions’ offense.

Through eight games, Alta Loma’s defense has allowed just 14 points per game.
