Football:
Mt. SAC did exactly what it was supposed to do.
They shut out winless Santa Ana, 52-0, on Saturday evening in Orange County.
The Mounties had advantages in first downs (22-14), total offense (531-199), passing yards (388-169) and rushing (143-30).
With 4:19 to play in the first quarter, Mt. SAC had already amassed a 28-0 lead.
Daunte Bell completed 9-of-11 for 253 yards and four TDs.
Bell hooked up with Pierce Brown on TD connections of 27 and 64 yards.
He tossed a 56-yard TD pass to Devon Anderson, and a 59-yarder to Elijah Crook.
Hunter Herrera was 5-of-11 for 69 yards, including a 40-yard TD pass to Bronseman Davis.
Eric Najarro completed 7-of-11 for 66 yards in the win.
Brown had game highs in receptions (5), receiving yards (124) and TD catches (2).
Anderson reeled in a pair of passes for 59 yards.
Davis caught three passes for 57 yards.
Kasey Olds (4-for-44) and Sherard Willis (4-for-34) combined to catch eight passes for 78 yards.
Najarro led MSAC in rushing with 61 yards on four carries.
The former Glendora Tartan scored on a 29-yard TD run with just under three minutes to play.
Aiden Ramos only got five carries for six yards in limited action, but his 3-yard TD run midway through the first quarter gave the Mounties a 21-0 lead.
Devyn Turner gained 39 yards on six carries.
Kenneth Junger Porta went 6-for-6 on extra-point attempts, and Joseph Gutierrez booted a 20-yard field goal.
Solomon Tripline had a game-high seven tackles, including one-half a sack.
Ofa Falekaono, David Medellin, Taevin Bean and Jayden Murrietta tallied five tackles apiece in the win.
Up next: The Mounties travel to winless Santa Barbara on Saturday night at 6.
The Vaqueros (0-6) have been outscored by a combined margin of 365-55.
