Football:
Glendora and Charter Oak met up on Friday night in Covina.
The Tartans and Chargers are currently headed in opposite directions in 2025.
And unfortunately for the boys in red, black and white uniforms, that trend didn’t change at COHS.
Charter Oak scored the first 40 points, and they could cruise to a 40-7 victory over GHS in the Sierra League opener for both programs.
Corin Berry left his mark all over the field.
The Chargers senior tossed three scoring passes and ran for another.
Berry hit Cristian Alarcon on 17-yard TD pass to get COHS on the board.
Twenty-seven seconds into the second quarter, Anthony Reasby reeled in a 15-yard TD pass from Berry.
Five minutes later, Berry rumbled into the end zone from one yard out to stretch the lead to 19.
And COHS would take a 26-0 lead into the break after Berry hooked up with Damian Huff on a 47-yard scoring strike with 1:15 remaining in the second quarter.
Torry Huff would close out the Chargers scoring with third quarter TD runs of 36 and 7 yards, respectively.
The Tartans lone score came on a 7-yard TD connection from Sebastian Lawrence to Tyson Rush with 4:30 to play in the game.
Glendora’s offense was able to muster just 140 yards of total offense, including six rushing.
Lawrence completed 14-of-22 for 134 yards.
The GHS sophomore tossed one TD and an interception.
Nazir McGlothen gained 26 yards on three carries.
However, the other four running backs combined to go 10-for-minus-20 yards.
Jarod Ceniceros caught four passes for 39 yards.
McGlothen had two receptions for 19 yards.
Johnny Jabbour reeled in five catches for 18 yards.
Rush had a team-high 55 receiving yards on two catches.
