GHS Edges Walnut in Five to Remain Tied atop Palomares Standings w/Claremont; Oliver, Swain & Zurla Lead Way w/49 Kills

Volleyball:

Heading into Monday’s Palomares League title chase, Glendora and Claremont stood together atop the standings with identical 4-1 records.

The Wolfpack swept second-place Diamond Bar.

And the Tartans narrowly held on in five games at winless Walnut.

GHS claimed victory by scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 22-25 and 17-15.

Sam Oliver, Camilla Swain and Valentina Zurla came up huge in the win.

The Glendora trio combined for 49 kills.

Oliver led GHS with 19 kills, three digs and a pair of blocks.

Swain contributed 17 kills, three digs and seven blocks.

Zurla provided 13 kills and 18 digs.

Emily Barrios chipped in with eight kills, seven aces and 24 digs.

Amelia Arzaga added 24 assists and 10 digs.

Kaleia Zeits and Molly Rivard had some defensive digs in the fifth game, and Zurla’s key kills late allowed the Tartans to head home with their fifth Palomares League win.
