One week after a season-opening 12-point loss at Citrus, Chaffey College welcomed Santa Ana to their Rancho Cucamonga campus.
However, the Panthers weren’t exactly polite hosts.
Chaffey scored the first 38 points and cruised to a 38-9 victory.
The Panthers dominated throughout.
Chaffey had advantages in first downs (26-11), passing yards (226-71), rushing (192-96) and total offense (418-167).
They also scored through the air, a pick-six, fumble recovery and a field goal.
The Panthers’ defense forced nine punts.
Frankie Villalbazo completed 7-of-13 for 155 yards.
That included TD passes of 27, 50 and 9 yards.
Jordan Woods caught two passes for 65 yards, including a 50-yard TD to give the Panthers a 31-0 lead.
Justin Benson had three receptions for 20 yards, and that included a 9-yard TD pass from Villalbazo.
Nehemiah Harrison’s 27-yard TD catch early in the second quarter gave Chaffey a 17-0 advantage.
Nathan Enriquez (2-for-44), Justin Price (3-for-33) and Yaqiym Halliburton (4-for-31) combined for nine receptions for 108 yards.
Evan Powell gained 71 yards on six carries.
Hakim Halliburton carried the ball 12 times for 49 yards, and Alpaki Pavia rushes for 47 yards on 11 carries.
Sivaj Dejurnett-Simmons led the Chaffey defense with five tackles.
Taylor Chapple-Love returned a fumble recovery 24 yards for a TD, and Donovan Brown picked a Santa Ana pass and brought it back 68 yards for the pick-six.
With 8:53 remaining and trailing 38-0, Ethan Fraser scored on a 51-yard sprint for the Dons.
Fraser had a game-high 86 yards on 15 carries.
Three Santa Ana quarterbacks (Bodie Stafford, Nate Bento & Justin Gil) combined to go 6-for-24 for 51 yards and four interceptions.
William Harper picked two passes for the Panthers and Elyjah Gordon intercepted one Dons’ pass.
Up next: The Panthers host Moorpark next Saturday at 6.
The Raiders (0-2) dropped a 23-0 decision to their visitors from Cerritos.
