Football:
What a difference a season makes.
Claremont ended its 2024 season having lost five of their final six games.
Fast forward one year, and Jake Caron has the Wolfpack 3-0 for the first time since 2015.
Last night, Claremont had a pair of defensive stands to hold off their visitors from Alta Loma, 21-13.
CHS kept the Lions out of the end zone on a fourth-and-goal play from the 1-yard line.
And Alta Loma would get one last chance.
But on fourth-and-10 from the 15, the CHS defense was able to apply some pressure and forced an errant throw that landed out of the end zone.
Luke Labbe led the Wolfpack ‘D’ with 10 tackles.
Landon Davis tallied nine tackles.
Gavin Marine (8) and Liam Gomez (5) combined for 13 tackles.
Brandon Coronado wasn’t as efficient as he was at Diamond Bar last week, but the CHS junior did enough in the win.
Coronado accounted for 282 yards of total offense.
He threw for 242 yards with a pair of TD passes and three picks.
Coronado rushed for 40 yards, including one score.
Max Leeper had another solid outing with nine catches for 72 yards and one TD.

Marine totaled 36 rushing yards, and he caught four passes for 30 yards.
Up next: CHS and ALHS will both be in action next Friday at 7.
The Wolfpack travel to Kaiser.
The Cats (1-2) were on the wrong end of a 37-14 decision at the hands of their visitors from Granite Hills.
And the Lions host Glendora.
The Tartans fell to 0-3 after Northview outscored them 15-0 in the second half to secure a 22-16 victory.
Quotable:
Claremont coach, Jake Caron: “That was a tough, physical game and I couldn’t be prouder of how our team responded. Alta Loma is very well-coached with some outstanding players, and we knew it would take focus and determination to come out with a win. Our defense really set the tone, and now we’ll shift our attention to getting better every day as we prepare for Kaiser.”
