Northview found itself 250 miles from home on a hot Friday night in Henderson, Nevada.
The Vikings went into the half trailing their hosts from Green Valley, 10-0, in the 2025 season opener.
However, NHS would make the necessary adjustments at the break, and they went on to secure a 35-10 victory.
Rudy Velasquez got the boys from Covina on the board with a 4-yard TD run.
And shortly thereafter, Jacob Cruz became a game changer.
Cruz recovered a fumble and brought it back 19 yards to give Northview its first lead of the game at 14-10.
Cruz followed that up with a 44-yard pick-six.
Jaishon Bledsoe’s 9-yard run stretched the Vikings advantage to 28-10.
And the Lucero boys put the game on ice when Robert tossed a 28-yard TD pass to Isaiah.
Robert Lucero completed 13-of-24 for 200 yards and the fourth-quarter TD.
Isaiah Lucero had game highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (112).
Aiden Jimenez caught three passes for 76 yards.
Green Valley’s Michael Lewis went 10-of-18 for 173 yards.
Eliseo Gerardo totaled three receptions for 46 yards.
Evan Williams and Sonny Uranich combined for four catches for 101 yards.
Up next: The Vikings will host La Habra next Friday at 7.
The Highlanders (1-0) secured a 34-20 victory over visiting Upland in their week-zero contest.
