Softball:
For the second time in three playoff games, Rio Hondo Prep extended their season thanks to a walk-off win.
Last Thursday, the Kares secured an 8-6 victory over Southlands Christian in the CIF-SS Division 6 opener because of Bella Fairley’s two-run walk-off HR.
After a 16-6 mercy-rule victory at St. Monica in Saturday’s six-inning contest, RHP hosted Katella on Wednesday.
And with the game tied at 11-11, Tara Riley tripled, and that was followed with an intentional walk of Allie Scott.
Ryen Covey had an RBI single to secure the walk-off 12-11 victory.
Dani Neville went the distance for the Knights, and she was responsible for 12 runs (four earned) on nine hits.
Neville issued four walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
Riley went 5-for-5 and scored three runs.
Scott drew a pair of walks, scored three times, singled and hit a two-run HR.
Covey had a pair of RBI singles, an RBI double and she scored one run.
Janna Taflinger walked, singled and scored.
Bryce Johnson drew a bases loaded walk.
Lead Rodriguez was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Allie Scott went four innings for RHP, and she was responsible for eight runs (three earned) on seven hits over four innings.
Scott walked three and struck out five Katella batters.
Bryce Johnson was charged with three runs on three hits over three innings.
Johnson issued four walks and registered three strikeouts.
Krystal Barrios went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, three runs and three RBIs.
Jazlyn Garcia singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Nataly Rodarte went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, run and she drove in three.

Jozie Guerra drew three walks and scored twice.
Emma Pittington went 1-for-4, and she was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Neville walked, singled and drove in one run.
Up next: RHP will battle Adelanto on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (17-9) secured a 16-10 road win at San Jacinto.
