Softball:
La Salle entered Monday’s CIF-SS Division 6 showdown with Poly on a nine-game winning streak, and they had won 14 of their past 15 games.
The Santa Fe League champs opened the playoffs last Thursday with a 6-1 victory over Oxford Academy.
On Monday, though, Pasadena Poly scored twice in the top of the first inning, and they never trailed in an 11-6 second round victory over the Lancers.
The Panthers had a 17-10 advantage in base hits.
Havana Pagan was roughed up for 11 runs (10 earned on 17 hits over her complete game effort.
Pagan issued a pair of walks and registered five strikeouts.
The first six batters in the Poly lineup went a combined 16-for-25 with 11 runs and seven RBIs.
Kate Asperger went 4-for-4 with one run and four RBIs.
Eila Chan walked, singled, doubled, hit a solo HR and scored four times.
Brynn Connolly had three singles and scored a pair of runs.
Carthan Connolly singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Ellery Engstrom singled three times and scored three runs.
Lorelai Thornell went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Amelia Shih went the distance, allowing just one earned run on 10 hits.
Shih didn’t give a free pass, and she fanned five La Salle batters.
Aria Davis singled, doubled and scored.
Jadelyn Sherman went 2-for-4 with one run and an RBI.
Jessica Young singled twice and scored.
Havana Pagan singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Alyssa Lewis went 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Jadyn Shaver had an RBI single and scored.
Layla Loya had a pair of RBIs.
