Softball:
Apparently, the 10-day layoff after finishing up Baseline League play wasn’t a hinderance for Etiwanda.
The Eagles got a first-round bye in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
And on Saturday, they secured a 3-1 victory over their visitors from La Habra.
Alyssa Galindo went the distance, allowing one run on five hits.
She didn’t issue a walk and registered six strikeouts.
Sixty-three of her 91 pitches were strikes.
Mireya Gonzalez had an RBI ground out in the top of the second, but that’s all the offense LHHS could muster.
Milee Valencia had a pair of singles.
Georgia Rickenbacker, Eliana Corona and Crystal Alatorre had one single apiece.
Madison Payne got the loss after surrendering two runs on four hits over six innings.
Payne walked one and fanned six EHS batters.
Kimberlee Aleman had an RBI single in the bottom of the first to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
After La Habra scored in the top of the second, Taylor Wren’s RBI single in the bottom half of that inning allowed EHS to regain an advantage.
In the sixth, Brianna Gutierrez got Galindo an insurance run with her solo HR.
Dailynn Battee walked and singled from the leadoff spot.
Up next: EHS travels to Temescal Canyon on Wednesday at 3:15.
The Titans (20-5) shut out their visitors from Valley View, 8-0, on Saturday.
