College Baseball:

Six days after narrowly escaping their own Super Regional in a 9-8 walk-off victory over a solid Chaffey program, Mt. SAC dropped a 14-2 beatdown on Glendale in game one of the So Cal Regional final.

The Mounties out-hit the Vaqueros, 19-6, including a 4-2 edge in extra-base hits.

Mt. SAC put the game away early by scoring three, four and two runs in the first, second and third innings, respectively.

They led 12-0 before Glendale scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.

Izeah Muniz won his state-leading 13th win by going seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits.

Muniz issued one walk and registered nine strikeouts.

Joey Peralta and Ethan Corral provided one inning of scoreless and hitless relief.

Neither gave a free pass and Corral got two of his three outs via strikeout.

Max Price doubled in a run and scored.

Jordan Viramontes singled, tripled and scored.

James Harrington singled in a run.

Ethan Kearney and Mike Bang had one single apiece for the Vaqueros.

The Mounties lit up John Trainor for nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits over four innings.

Trainor walked four and fanned three.

Austin Nimri was charged with five runs on eight hits over four innings.

Nimri issued three walks and registered a pair of strikeouts.

The state’s leading hitter, Landon White, went 5-for-6 with a double, three runs and four RBIs.

White now has a ridiculous 105 hits in 2025.

Bryan Bradshaw walked, singled twice, doubled and scored four times to extend his state-leading tally to 88 runs.

Former Charter Oak stud Diego Ortiz went 4-for-4 with one run and three RBIs.

Jackson Giacone had an RBI fielder’s choice and a two-run double.

Terrell Jackson walked, singled, doubled and scored.

Noah Rodriguez walked, singled three times and scored three runs.

Tyler Stull walked, singled in a run in the bottom of the first and scored twice.

Ty Thomas drove in a run with a sac fly in the second inning.

Up next: The Mounties can earn a spot in next week’s Final Four with a victory on Saturday.

The first pitch is set for 1.

If Glendale wins game two, a third and deciding contest would take place on Sunday at Mt. SAC.

Quotable:

Mt. SAC baseball coach, John Knott: “Izeah did a great job of pounding the zone and attacking their hitters. He was efficient and competitive keeping our defense ready.”
