Baseball:
Had someone said the Baseline League was going to be decided on the final day of the 2025 regular season, one might assume it was Los Osos, RCHS and Chino Hills.
And they’d be 1-for-3.
Los Osos needs one win tomorrow in their doubleheader with Etiwanda to secure an outright league title.
But if EHS gets the sweep at LOHS, Don Furnald would add another chapter to some amazing things that have happened at Etiwanda under his watch.
The Eagles set up that scenario thanks to a 4-3 win in their home finale on Tuesday.
EHS trailed 3-2 as they picked up their bats in the bottom of the seventh.
Two singles, a pair of errors and a hit batter later, and Etiwanda had a walk-off 4-3 victory.
Reagan Samples went six-plus innings, and he was charged with three runs (one earned) on six hits.
Samples walked one and struck out five.
After LJ Roellig led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, Wyatt Mohler came on.
Mohler hit James Milam and then the Grizzlies defense committed a pair of errors, including a ground ball that allowed Roellig to score and the game was tied at 3-3.
One batter later, Ryan Severns, who reached base on an error, scored on Jaeden Toki’s RBI single.
Toki finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Ryan Severns scored twice, including on his solo HR in the bottom of the first.
Roellig was 3-for-3 with one run.
Milam walked and scored and Derick Kim singled.
Michael Aleman went all seven for Etiwanda, and he allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits.
Aleman didn’t issue a walk and registered four strikeouts.
Hunter Meyer had an RBI double in the top of the first inning.
Mohler went 2-for-4 and scored two of the Grizzlies three runs.
Josh Chairez, Justin Yeutter and Drew Cromwell had one single apiece.
Roberto Topete was hit by pitch and scored.
